A residential community in the Berlin-Ocean City area near Worcester Highway with
a variety of office space within the building recently requested an install of
a new ductless mini split system. The current ducted system providing air to
these areas was creating temperature issues for four offices as meetings would increase
the heat load. While a zone damper system could be a consideration in a
commercial setting with these issues, having inconsistent heat loads such as
meetings resulted in us proposing a Bosch 48,000 BTU 4-zone ductless system to
ensure sufficient heating and air conditioning.
This install was a multi-day job and part of a larger HVAC initiative that also included replacing a Goodman CPC series RTU with a 5-Ton, 3-phase York gas with AC rooftop packaged unit.
Each project was a fairly standard installation that included gas piping modifications, all electrical connections, PVC drain piping, refrigerant lines for the ductless system, condensate pumps as well as all power wire, low voltage wire and the circuit breaker needed. We worked in coordination with a roofing company to ensure a proper and professional penetration with sealing to allow for access between the indoor wall mounts and ductless outdoor unit being housed on the roof.
Why This Bosch Ductless System?
The Bosch Climate 5000 mini split series, depending on the configuration of the system allows for 100% heating capacity between -5ºF and 5ºF. High efficiency systems such as these means lower energy costs and the inverter driven technology that contributes to this also allows for automatic adjustments to meet the temperature needs of a space through consistent delivery. Ducted mini splits do exist, however, ductless systems drive the efficient nature of this equipment, as ductwork if installed improperly or the normal wear of ductwork over time can contribute to leaking and lost air, meaning longer run times and higher energy costs.
Are ductless systems quieter than ducted systems?
Yes, ductless systems are whisper quiet. Bosch ductless systems perform at sound levels as low as 23 dBa.
Do you offer ductless systems for both residential and commercial?
Real HVAC Services offers a variety of options for those interested in ductless. Whether it be (1) single zone for a residential setting or a City Multi VRF system with 90 cassettes for a commercial office setting, we are certified, qualified and ready to provide service/s for you.
Are ductless systems more cost effective than split systems?
Ductless systems can be a more cost effective option when a new HVAC system needs to be installed. At times, the ductwork required for a new split ac system may mean more labor and material in cost when compared to a ductless. When solely considering efficiency, ductless systems are the best option, hence their higher SEER ratings.
